America’s Cup World Series – Standings and Bermuda Results

Three events, three different winners.
  • Land Rover BAR won the opening event on their home waters in Portsmouth.
  • Emirates Team New Zealand took the event in Gothenburg, the only regatta with racing on two days.
  • Artemis Racing took the prize in Bermuda, in spite of a collision with an umpire boat.
Notable by their absence in this list is the defender, Oracle Team USA who were on the podium at each regatta but have not managed to win one.

ETNZ leads the America’s Cup World Series with Oracle in second. In the table above, the red numbers are the results for Sunday races, which count double.

After Three Events

America's Cup World Series Leaderboard

The top line for each team shows their points. The second line is their race results. High point scoring. First place earns 10 points on Saturday, 20 points on Sunday. Last place on Sunday earns 10 points, just like first place on Saturday. Seems odd, but that’s the way it is.

The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series runs over two years – 2015 and 2016. The winner of the series will carry two points forward into the round robin phase. Second place in the series carries one point. At the end of the round robin, any ties will be broken using these results. That means the AC World Series could determine which team receives the bonus point for the America’s Cup Match and which team is eliminated.

America's Cup tactician Ray Davies and wing trimmer Glenn Ashby both moved far forward leaving helmsman Peter Burling with lots to do

In the light air on Sunday, tactician Ray Davies and wing trimmer Glenn Ashby both moved far forward leaving helmsman Peter Burling with lots to do – steer, trim the wing and adjust the daggerboard rake. ETNZ is the most consistent team – they have finished third or better in all six races in the series so far.

America's Cup OTUSA tactician Tom Slingsby was "on fire" on Saturday

OTUSA tactician Tom Slingsby was “on fire” on Saturday, guiding his team to two wire to wire wins. Unfortunately, on Sunday, with double points on the line, OTUSA could only manage two fourth place finishes, good enough to keep them in second place for the regatta.

America's Cup The LiveLine graphics are even sharper than in 2013. Here OTUSA holds on to fourth place in Race 3 on Sunday, just ahead of Land Rover BAR.
